A bit about me…

Hey! My name is Lilly Knight and I am a documentary wedding photographer based in Eastbourne, East Sussex.

Interestingly, it was never my plan to become a photographer. It was something I started whilst completing my university degree in sociology and Spanish. Awkwardly, I discovered photography by trying to become a fashion influencer on Instagram (I still cringe when I think about it now)!

When I got my first ‘proper’ camera, I was immediately drawn to taking photos that were not posed, but involved spontaneity and had an element of storytelling to them. Street photography and photojournalism still have a strong influence in my photography style today. The philosophy of my photography ultimately revolves around storytelling and capturing moments in its purest form, creating photos that bring feelings of nostalgia for years to come.

The most important thing for me is that you get to enjoy one of the most special, magical days of your life. You don’t want to remember your wedding day as a day full of hassle, constantly being taken away from your family and friends for more unwanted formal photos, having to play up to the camera, and not being able to relax and have a good time. With my documentary wedding photography style, you can be assured that you and your special day will always come first. You can be present and just enjoy the day, knowing that I will be there capturing all the special moments as they unfold.

Aside from photography, my other passions in life include travelling (18 countries and counting), music (6 instruments and whatever else I can try and learn) and languages (Spanish and some Italian). When I’m not taking photos, you’ll find me outside walking my dog, irritating my fiancée, planning holidays, and eating non-stop!

Get to know me better:

  1. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Recently, I’ve been living off of fajitas. Easy to make, minimal washing up, and taste amazing!

  2. What did you want to be when you were little? To be honest, it was never a photographer! I wanted to be many things: a footballer, a teacher, a fairy princess… and briefly a street magician.

  3. What is your favourite colour? Yellow. It’s bright, cheerful, warm, and comforting - the way that I like my life to be.

  4. On a scale of 1-10 how funny would you say you are? 8/10 on a good day.

  5. If you could live anywhere, where would it be? I think it would have to be New Zealand, although I’ve never been. The landscapes look incredible! The only thing would be that it’s far from the UK.

  6. What is your favourite sport to watch and play? I’m a massive football fan (Arsenal all the way)! I used to play competitively when I was younger, until I got injured. I still love a casual kickabout at the park.

  7. What would you sing at Karaoke night? I’ll sing anything (completely sober may I add)! If I had to pick one song, it would probably be “Don’t Look Back in Anger” by Oasis.

  8. What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to? Red Hot Chili Peppers. Though I did pretty much cry the whole time seeing John Mayer in concert - that was a very emotional night for me!

  9. What’s your best party trick? Guessing people’s shoe size just by looking at their feet (thanks to 4 years in footwear retail).

  10. Do you have a life motto? Die with memories, not dreams.
